Time for some good news! The IRGO steering committee has been hard at work over the summer, and we can now reveal to you some of the fruits of that labour:
First and foremost, may we unveil our new web portal! http://irgo.otago.ac.nz will be our online clearinghouse for all IRGO information, news and events, and supports RSS feeds to your favourite clients. The site is designed to draw upon the existing wiki, the twitter feed, this tumblr, and our Facebook. What are these?
The IRGOwiki is the existing wetpaint site that was our online home during the first two years of IRGO development. The site will continue to exist, however, most of the announcement and notification functions of the site will now be flipped over to twitter, tumblr and Facebook.
IRGOTweets is our twitter, which streams live updates from the steering committee as well as the latest information on IRGO events and news from around the internet. Feel free to send any news (such as conference attendence, new publications, etc) to @IRGOtweets. The twitter stream is also available on the website.
New this year, we have created a Facebook for the site to facilitate announcements, interaction, and ideas. Please take a look and join us there!
In the previous two years, IRGO has hosted a number of f2f events. We have plans afoot for several exciting events for 2009, but are also considering continuing the seminar series that was so popular in 2008. To help determine what you would like, we have a poll up asking what regular events (if any!) you’d like us to run in 2009. Please take two seconds to tick some boxes, and if you have any ideas for events, please drop us a line!
2009 looks to be an exciting year for IRGO, and I look forward to seeing you all at our events and online.
